It's one of the first things people type into Google when they find out they're expecting. I know, because I can see the searches. And it's a completely fair question — so here's an honest answer.

Quick answer: newborn photography in London typically ranges from £150 to over £2,000, depending on experience and what's included. My own collections start from £370 for a Mini Newborn session — a one-hour lifestyle session at home with fifteen fully edited images. For a full posed session with studio lighting and a fine art print, the Essential Collection starts from £550.

What you're paying for isn't just someone's presence in your home for two hours. It's the eighteen years of knowing exactly how to settle a baby who won't sleep, the professional lighting that travels with them, the hours of careful editing afterwards, and — in most cases — something physical to hold at the end. A print, an album, a wall piece that will still be on your wall in twenty years.

At the lower end of the market, you'll typically receive a disc of lightly edited files. The photographer may be talented and just starting out — there's nothing wrong with that.
